COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – No. 7 Saint John's University (9-1, 8-1 MIAC) earned one of the 13 at-large bids to the NCAA Division III Football Playoffs when the 40-team field was announced Nov. 16 .SJU hosts No. 25 Monmouth of Illinois (9-1, 9-0 MWC) in the NCAA's second round at noon Saturday, Nov. 29, in Collegeville.The only other meeting between the two programs on the football field resulted in a 62-3 home win for SJU in the first round of the 2005 Division III playoffs in Collegeville. Defensive end Kevin McNamara '07 totaled 7.5 sacks – an NCAA record that still stands today – in the victory.The Johnnies improved their NPI score by 0.589 from last week's calculation to climb four spots to No. 16 in the final ratings announced last night (Nov. 15). The 2025 season is the NCAA's second with the NPI as the system for selecting the 13 at-large bids to the Division III playoffs.The postseason appearance is the 34th (30th at the Division III level) and 10th in the last 11 seasons for the Johnnies. SJU has a 50-28 (.641) all-time postseason record, including a 27-8 (.771) mark in Collegeville.
